Back in the early 80's I, Russell Wilson, walked into the computer
room of the junior college here in my hometown. On each person's
monitor, via a TI-990 mainframe, was the same computer game.
It was very gratifying because that game was written by me.
Then at the University of Alabama my roommate, Neal Champion, and
I wrote games on our first personal computers, the VIC-20. We sent
our games to magazines to have them published, but with no luck.
Some of you will remember typing in programs from listings
in a magazine, they didn't come with disks or CD-ROMs!
The Amiga 500 was my next computer. A very nice solitaire
game for it introduced me to the ancient Chinese tiles of
Mah Jongg. After playing it a lot, I began to think of things
that would add more mystery, strategy, and challenge. The result
is Mah Jongg Wall,
my first game written for Windows.
